Enable category selection on a booking engine
How to let guests choose from room categories when booking through your booking engine.

If your room types are organized into categories, you can let guests choose one—such as “Private rooms,” “Shared rooms,” or whatever categories you’ve created—during the first step of the booking process.
This makes it easier for guests to filter results and find what they’re looking for quickly.
How to enable category selection
To activate category selection, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Booking Engines.
- Click the three dots next to the booking engine you want to edit.
- In the drop-down list, click Edit.
- Under Categories, choose one of the Show options:
- Show – required: Guests must select a category before continuing.
- Show – optional: Guests can choose a category, but it’s not required.
- Show – Auto Select if not chosen: If no category is selected, the system will automatically choose one—only if each room type has just one category.
- Click Save.
