Step 1: Create a room type Booking channel requirements Step 2: Add rooms to a room type

In Sirvoy, a room type represents a category of accommodations, while a room is an individual unit of that type. All key details—like price, amenities, and guest capacity—are set at the room type level, and any rooms assigned to it automatically inherit those features.

Room types and rooms don’t have to be traditional hotel rooms—they could be anything your business rents out, including beds, cabins, or even yurts.

To make the spaces your guests will book, start by creating room types. Then, assign rooms to each one.

Example: A room type called "Queen room with balcony" with shared features like price and amenities. Under that room type, you could have three individual rooms: "Queen 1", "Queen 2", and "Queen 3"—each one booked separately, but all sharing the same characteristics.

Step 1: Create a room type

  1. Go to Settings > Accommodations and click Add New
  2. Input a name and description in each supported language
    • The description should be for the room type, not individual rooms.
    • If each room is unique—for example, with different amenities and pricing—create a separate room type for each one.
  3. Upload images
    • Required formats: PNG, GIF, JPG, or JPEG.
    • Max file size: 10 MB.
    • Recommended resolution: At least 1000 × 300 px.
  4. Enter the room’s standard occupancy in Number of guests. If additional beds can be added to increase occupancy further, enter those in Extra beds
  5. Choose a price model
    • Fixed Price Model: Same price regardless of the number of guests.
    • Flexible Price Model: Price varies depending on the number of guests.
  6. Select applicable taxes and indicate if the room type is exempt from any surcharges
  7. Choose the Class (for example, room, bed, campsite) and check any included amenities
  8. (Optional) Set a Sort Order to control the room type’s display order in lists and booking engines. Leave this on Auto to sort automatically
  9. (Optional) If you use Room Type Categories, assign this room type to the relevant categories
  10. Click Save

What are Duplicate Room Types and Internal Room Types?

  • Duplicate Room Types: These inherit rooms from an existing room type, not the description, pricing, restrictions, or other settings. Use them for alternate pricing models—like non-refundable rates—or package deals.
  • Internal Room Types: These are visible only to users in your Sirvoy account and don’t show on your booking engines. You can still map them to booking channels. They're ideal for managing rooms for internal use or channel-specific setups.

Booking channel requirements

Specific settings are needed for room types sold on some booking channels.

Booking.com

  • On Booking.com, Maximum adults should match the total occupancy (Number of guests + Extra beds) from Sirvoy.
  • Extra beds and children are managed in Booking.com. Do not include them in the Number of guests or Extra beds fields in Sirvoy room types used for Booking.com.

Agoda

  • Sirvoy room types used for Agoda should have no more than 1 extra bed, because Agoda only supports 1 per room. Any additional extra beds can cause problems.

Airbnb

  • Airbnb does not support the flexible price model, but there is a workaround for flexible pricing on Airbnb.

HostelWorld

  • Hostelworld does not support the flexible price model, but there is a workaround for flexible pricing on Hostelworld.

Step 2: Add rooms to a room type

  1. After creating the room type, go to Settings > Accommodations
  2. Next to the room type you’ve just created, click New Room
  3. Assign a unique Room ID, like “101” or “Campsite #3”
  4. Repeat this step for each additional room for that room type

Once all rooms are added, your room type is ready to accept bookings.
