Connect a custom domain to your Sirvoy website
How to use your custom domain for websites built with Sirvoy.
Table of Contents
To use your own web address with a website built in Sirvoy, connect a custom domain. A domain is the address people use to find your site, for example sirvoy.com. To connect a custom domain, you need to own it first.
Note: Custom domains for sites built with the Sirvoy Website Builder are currently in beta, which means we’re still testing and improving the feature, and there may still be glitches to iron out.
Want to try it out? Contact support to join the beta. We recommend waiting for the full release before using it for mission-critical websites.
Step 1: Set up your domain
- Go to Web tools > Website Builder
- Click Add domain under an enabled website
- Click Next to confirm you own a domain
- Enter your custom domain, then click Next
Add DNS records
- Select a record type (CNAME or A/AAAA) that matches your domain setup
- Use the copy buttons to copy each DNS record
- In your domain provider’s DNS settings, add the records exactly as shown
- Add the TXT record. This verifies that you own the domain
- Select I’ve added the records
- Click Done
Understanding CNAME and A/AAAA:
- CNAME points your domain to another domain name. It’s typically used for subdomains like help.sirvoy.com, which is a subdomain of sirvoy.com.
- A/AAAA points your domain to an IP address. It’s typically used for root domains like sirvoy.com.
Step 2: Wait for verification
After you click Done, Sirvoy checks your DNS records:
- DNS changes can take time to apply. This is often a few minutes, but depending on the domain provider, it can take a day or two.
- If everything is set up correctly, your domain will be connected, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.
- If changes are needed, you’ll receive an email with instructions.
