Enable self check-in for guests
How to let your guests check in themselves, directly from the Guest Portal.
Table of Contents
Self check-in lets guests skip the reception desk and check in online through your Guest Portal. This reduces front desk workload and creates a smoother arrival experience.
Enable self check-in
To use self check-in, your guests need access to the Guest Portal. You can email them a link or embed the portal on your website. See What is the guest portal? for all the details.
- Go to Settings > Guest Portal > Settings > Edit.
- Switch Self check-in to ON.
- Set the Check-in time.
- Add your Intro text (optional but recommended).
- Add your after check-in text.
- Save your changes.
How self check-in works
You can switch self check-in on or off any time. Here’s how it works:
- Availability: Guests can check in starting from the time you choose until 11:00 AM on the check-out day. This makes sure even late-night arrivals have a chance to check in.
- Booking status: Guests can only check in once their booking is confirmed. If your property confirms all bookings automatically, you don’t need to worry about this step.
- Room readiness: All rooms in the booking must be marked Ready. If you don’t use Sirvoy’s housekeeping feature, this step doesn’t apply.
-
Guest flow:
- On their arrival day, guests see a Check in button in the Guest Portal.
- After clicking, they’ll see “Check-in complete” and your Check-in message.
- The booking in Sirvoy updates automatically to show the guest as checked in, and the history log notes that it was a self check-in.
Tips:
- Pair self check-in with booking webhooks for contactless check-ins. For example, send smart lock key code automatically when a guest checks in.
- The Sirvoy Website Builder isn’t just for bookings — it’s also an easy way to keep your Guest Portal online and available for guests.
