SMS restrictions by country
Learn about the countries where SMS messages from Sirvoy can't be sent or where sender IDs are modified due to local regulations.
Table of Contents
Some countries have telecom rules to reduce SMS spam, which affects how Sirvoy can send text messages. This includes SMS messages to guests (like booking confirmations) and messages sent to Sirvoy users, like login and authentication codes.
In certain countries, SMS can’t be delivered at all. In others, your Sender ID (the name or number that appears as the sender when someone receives an SMS) may be changed before delivery to comply with local regulations.
If you're affected, consider using email to contact guests instead of SMS, and use Google Authenticator or email as your authentication method.
Vonage SMS restrictions by country
Sirvoy uses Vonage as its SMS provider, so any restrictions that apply to Vonage also apply to messages sent through Sirvoy.
Some countries won’t receive SMS at all, or SMS is only allowed for certain types of recipients. For example, messages may be delivered to Sirvoy users but not to guests.
For the most up-to-date information, see Vonage's country-specific restrictions.
SMS sent with a different Sender ID
In some countries, the sender-ID you’ve set in your contact details can’t be used. When that happens, the message will be sent with a “Sirvoy” sender-ID or another alternative.
- Australia – Sent with “Sirvoy”
- Ireland – Sent with “Sirvoy”
- Poland – If your Sender ID is numeric, it’s replaced with “Sirvoy”
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Sent with “Sirvoy”
- United Kingdom (UK) – Sent with “Sirvoy”, unless the registered numeric Sender ID begins with +44
- United States (US) and Canada – Sender ID is replaced with a 10-digit long code
Tip: Guests can only reply to SMS messages if the Sender ID is a real phone number. Otherwise, they’ll still receive the message (unless other restrictions apply), but won’t be able to reply. Add another contact method to make sure they can reach you.
