Automate email and SMS templates by category

You can use room type categories to trigger automated message templates for specific types of bookings.

For example, if your B&B includes a separate campground, you could set up two categories—one for rooms and one for campsites. Then you can send one email or SMS to guests booking a room and a different one to campers.

Requirements: 

  • Automated emails or SMS by category are only sent if the entire booking belongs to a single category. This means each room type in the booking must belong to one category only, and all booked room types must share the same category.
 

Automate email and SMS templates by category

To create automatic messages based on category:

  1. Create room type categories and assign them to your room types
  2. Go to Settings > Communications
  3. Under Email templates or SMS templates, click New template
  4. Under the Automated dropdown, choose when the message should be sent—for example, "based on check-in"
  5. Under If original category was, select the relevant category
  6. Click Save
